2008 TAX RATE NOTICE

Randall County adopted a tax rate that will raise $2,292,422 more property tax than last year's tax rate. Of that amount, $655,009 is to be raised from new property added to the tax rolls. The 2008 tax rate of .36062 per $100 is 3.16% higher than the 2007 tax rate of .34957 per $100.

The 2008 tax rate will increase taxes on a $100,000 home by approximately $11.05. The tax levy for maintenance and operation increased by $9.95 and the tax levy for debt service increased by $1.10, a total increase of $11.05.

The 2008 tax increase includes a $4.36 per $100,000 increase due to a tax ceiling applied to the age 65 and older homeowners. This tax ceiling shifts the collection of increased taxes to the under age 65 homeowners.
