Prior to taking the bench, Judge Walker had been in private legal practice in Amarillo for approximately 33 years. He had experience with a middle sized law firm, County Attorney's Office, and previously was Potter County Court at Law No. 1 judge(appointed in 1978 at the age of 31 with a prearranged agreement that he would not run for the position in subsequent special election). He is triple Texas State Bar Board Certified (Family Law since 1977, Consumer Bankruptcy Law since 1984, and Business bankruptcy Law since 1988). Judge Walker is Martindale-Hubbell AV rated, and formerly a Texas Monthly Super Lawyer.
