Be it remembered on this the 1st day of May 2001, there came to and was held a Regular Meeting at 3:30 p.m. of the Commissioners= Court in and for Randall County, Texas with the following present and presiding:

Also present at the meeting was Joella McPherson, County Auditor and Sue Wicker Bartolino, County Clerk.

1.            Approval of the minutes of the April 24, 2001 commissioners court meeting.

 

2.         Discuss funding of additional equipment needed for upcoming capital murder trials. 

Discuss upcoming witness expenses.  Take any necessary action. (Criminal District Attorney)

 

3.         Discuss lawsuit in regard to purchase of new telephone system.  A closed meeting with the criminal district attorney and/or assistant criminal district attorney(s) will be held  pursuant to Tex. Gov. Code Ann. Section 551.071 permitting a governmental body to conduct a private consultation with its attorney to seek the advice of its attorney about pending litigation.  (Criminal District Attorney)

 

4.         Discuss problems relating to the construction of the Youth Center Halfway House.  A closed meeting will be held with attorney Kurt Crutcher pursuant to Tex. Gov. Code Ann. Section 551.071 permitting a governmental body to conduct a private consultation with its attorney to seek the advice of its attorney about contemplated litigation.   Take any necessary action.  (TW)   

 

5.         Discuss performance contracting details with representatives of Johnson Controls.

6.         Discuss and act on request to approve specifications for radio communication system for the new jail.  (Auditor) 

 

7.         Discuss and act on request to approve specifications for radio antenna tower for the new jail.  (Auditor)

 

8.         Discuss and act on request to approve specifications for local and long distance service.  (Auditor) 

 

9.         Discuss details of obtaining a time-keeping system for Randall County.  Take any necessary action.  (SH)

 

10.       Discuss issues of concern related to construction of the new jail.  Take any necessary       action.  (TW)

Motion was made by Commissioner Gualtiere.  Motion to approve the bid specifications for Radio Antenna Tower.

Motion was made by Commissioner Huskey.  Motion that with the clarification changes, we authorize the auditor’s office to proceed with this.

Judge Wood adjourned the Randall County Commissioners Court until 3:30 p.m. Tuesday, May 8th, 2001 in the Randall County Square North Courtroom.

At the meeting on May 8, 2001, Commissioner Huskey   moved to approve the minutes for the meeting held on the 1st of May 2001 as distributed.  Commissioner Karrh  seconded the motion.   Five (5)  Voted aye.  The said minutes were approved as distributed and  No  correction was made in open Court.
