When Property Taxes are Due

Property tax statements are mailed by October 1. They are due upon receipt and no later than January 31 of the following year. Penalty and interest accrue beginning February 1.

Beginning July the penalty and interest is 18% along with an additional collection fee of 20%.


Payment Options

We will accept payments either by cash, check, money order, cashier’s check, Visa , MasterCard, or Discover Card.

If you are unable to pay your taxes in full when they are due, then there are the following payment options.

Partial Payments

Taxpayers may make partial payments on current or delinquent property taxes. Penalty and interest accrue on the unpaid delinquent balances. There is a minimum $50 per payment.

Installment Payments

Taxpayers over 65 or disabled may pay current taxes on their qualified homestead in installments without penalty and interest by signing an agreement by January 31 and paying:

1/4 by January 31 1/4 by May 31
1/4 by March 31 1/4 by July 31

After Hours Payments

Payments may be placed in the secure night depository at the Amarillo location. This is . 4111 S. Georgia and it is located by the drive-up windows on the south side of the building.


Exemptions
Taxpayers may qualify to receive an exemption on their property. Please call the Potter-Randall Appraisal District on how to qualify for exemptions. Their phone number is (806) 358-1601. You can refer to our joint web page at: www.prad.org
